Toolbox Talk: Hand & Power Tool Safety

A 10-minute talk on inspecting tools, keeping guards on, and using the right tool for the job.

This is a Migna Safety Solutions course with a Migna certificate of completion. It is not OSHA Outreach Training and does not include a Department of Labor card.

Most hand and power tool injuries come from three things: a tool used for something it wasn't built for, a guard that got removed, or a defect somebody noticed and used anyway. This talk covers inspection before use, right tool for the job, tagging damaged tools out of service, guards, cord condition and GFCI, and eye protection. This is a toolbox talk, not a full course. It is a single-topic briefing meant to be delivered in about ten minutes, and it supplements — it does not replace — your employer's complete tool safety and PPE training. On its own it does not satisfy any OSHA training requirement. Completing it documents that this specific talk was delivered and understood. Issues a Migna certificate of completion.
