Aerial Lift & MEWP Safety

Intermediate · Course MIG-CON-202

Safe operation of boom lifts and scissor lifts — the classroom half of operator training (ANSI A92 / OSHA 1926.453 & 1910).

This is a Migna Safety Solutions course with a Migna certificate of completion. It is not OSHA Outreach Training and does not include a Department of Labor card.

Hands-on training required. This online course provides the required classroom/knowledge instruction only. Completing it alone does not qualify or certify you to operate or use the equipment. As OSHA requires, your employer must also provide hands-on training and evaluate you on the specific equipment in your workplace — for respirators, this includes a medical evaluation and a fit test — before you are qualified.

Aerial lifts and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) put workers dozens of feet up on a moving machine. This course covers the MEWP classification system, the applicable OSHA and ANSI A92 requirements, pre-use inspection and function testing, stability, capacity and load charts, fall protection in the basket, electrocution avoidance near power lines, safe travel and positioning, wind and weather limits, and rescue planning. IMPORTANT: this classroom instruction does not by itself qualify you to operate. Your employer must provide machine-specific familiarization, hands-on training, and an evaluation of your operation. Issues a Migna certificate of completion for the theory portion.

Seat time is enforced on our servers. The clock is calculated from signed progress events rather than in your browser, so it cannot be sped up — a certificate that states 39 minutes of training means it.

Retraining due every 3 years

This interval comes from the standard the course is written against, not from us. The date is printed on the certificate, and we email a reminder before it lapses.
