DOT HAZMAT General Awareness & Security

This is a different regulator from OSHA. The Hazardous Materials Regulations are issued by the Department of Transportation and enforced by PHMSA and the modal agencies, and they reach anyone whose job affects the safety of hazardous materials in transportation — including people who never get in a truck. The course covers who counts as a hazmat employee and a hazmat employer; the five components of required training and which ones this course provides; the 90-day rule for new employees, the three-year recurrent cycle, and the records your employer must keep; the nine hazard classes and their divisions; how to read the Hazardous Materials Table and build a basic description in the correct sequence; shipping papers, marking, labeling, and placarding; security awareness and the security plan trigger; and the emergency response information that has to travel with the shipment. General awareness, safety, and security awareness training are provided here. Function-specific training is by definition specific to what you do and must come from your employer, as must in-depth security training if your employer requires a security plan. Issues a Migna certificate of completion.
