1910.269 governs the operation and maintenance of electric power generation, control, transformation, transmission and distribution installations. Its construction counterpart is 29 CFR 1926 Subpart V. Together they cover line work, substations, generating stations and line-clearance tree trimming — some of the highest-consequence work in American industry, where the two things that kill people are contact with an energised conductor and the thermal energy of an arc. This course covers what the standard reaches and how it relates to Subpart S and NFPA 70E; who counts as a qualified employee and what the annual determination of proficiency actually requires; the host and contract employer information exchange; the job briefing and when a second one is owed; de-energizing lines and equipment for employee protection; protective grounding and the equipotential zone, which is the concept most often taught wrongly; enclosed spaces and why they are not ordinary permit-required confined spaces; minimum approach distances; the arc flash assessment and the 2.0 cal/cm² threshold; the clothing that must never be worn; and first aid, pole-top and manhole rescue. It deliberately prints no minimum approach distance tables and no incident energy values. Those come from your employer's own assessment and the system you work on. Issues a Migna certificate of completion.
