Lockout/Tagout (Control of Hazardous Energy)

Intermediate · Course MIG-GI-206

The energy-control principles behind 29 CFR 1910.147 — for authorized and affected employees.

This is a Migna Safety Solutions course with a Migna certificate of completion. It is not OSHA Outreach Training and does not include a Department of Labor card.

Machines that start unexpectedly maim and kill maintenance workers every year — and most of those incidents were one lock away from never happening. This course covers the seven hazardous energy types and stored energy, the roles and training the standard defines, the written energy-control procedure and the periodic inspection, energy isolating devices versus control devices, the full lockout and restoration sequences with verification, tagout-only systems, group lockout, shift change, lock removal, contractors, and the narrow exceptions. Your employer's machine-specific written procedures and hands-on instruction complete authorized-employee training; this course provides the foundation. Issues a Migna certificate of completion.

Seat time is enforced on our servers. The clock is calculated from signed progress events rather than in your browser, so it cannot be sped up — a certificate that states 36 minutes of training means it.

This certificate does not expire on a clock

The standard behind this course sets no fixed retraining interval, so we do not print one. Retraining is triggered by events instead — a new hazard, a changed process, or an observed deficiency. Your employer or insurer may set their own interval, which is a real obligation but not a federal one.
